Weekend Getaway

This weekend Tyler had a tennis coaches conference that he had to go to in New Braunfels, TX. Since we hadn't taken a family trip (with just us, not visiting anyone or anything) in a very long time (like 2 years) we decided to make this one! We left on Thursday night and headed up to New Braunfels- which is near San Antonio. Friday morning Tyler played a golf tournament with some of the other coaches (nothing to do with tennis, I know) and Addy and I hung around the hotel room livin' the life at the Super 8, then got some lunch. That night we went to the cutest little village called Gruene (pronounced Green) and got some dinner.

On Saturday we went to the outlets- the mother of all outlets, I should say. There are actually two sets of outlets right next to each other for your all-day shopping pleasure. We stuck it to the man and only paid about 40% of what our actual purchases cost thanks to coupons and savvy-me! YES! You've gotta love the free market and the ability of Americans to spend lots of money on things they may or may not need. We saved $575.68 total! Nice, I know. That night we went to San Antonio and ate dinner on the Riverwalk. It was so cool- they decorated the whole thing with Christmas lights and had a huge tree right in the middle of the beginning part (which is actually in the middle of the River Center mall.) We walked up and down the riverwalk as Addy slept in the Baby Bjorn and just enjoyed the atmosphere.

We had such a good time. I forgot that I really like my husband. I mean, I know that I do, but sometimes when life gets busy or you fall into the same routine you forget how much you actually enjoy spending time with each other. We used to go away for weekends all the time when we lived in Utah, but since things are a little tighter where the Benjamin's are concerned we haven't for some time.

On our way back we drove through Austin and went to the capital building. It is SO pretty! There are some cannons on display outside on the grounds and we saw this girl posing on one! She was having her pictures taken (I am assuming for her quinceaƱera) in a big yellow ball gown. We thought it was so funny to see someone posing in a big dress with a bouquet of flowers with a Alamo cannon as the backdrop. So romantic!

Adalyn was a trooper for the trip and even slept through the night twice! Wahoo! Lets hope she keeps it up or I'll have to start dosing her with Benadryl at night. Kidding, just kidding CPS. Now, where is that Baby Tylenol?

allison, sounds like a blast. I totally relate with having a moment where you realize who much you like being with your husband...those are good moments to have- at least...well nevermind:)

Isn't Austin gorgeous? I've been to New Braunfels too and those outlets are just amazing. Congrads on becomign such an expert bargain shopper. I am getting to the point where I have such a strong urge just to buy something when I see how great of deal it is- even if it is a completely useless object for me...I think it is becoming a disease in my head!
